| On December 27th Reg and I
did
our annual Christmas hunting pilgrimage over to John and Sue Caldwell's
"The Break". As usual, the hunting was excellent.
We hunted the morning in several sudex (kind of looks like milo) fields. We started off with just a pointer. The birds had been hunted a lot and they were very spooky. They would not hold. Our pointer, however, would hold until you released him (a tap on the hind quarters). He would then track them down to their new position and the running game would start all over. We hunted the same 50 yards, back and forth, for over an hour without getting many birds to flush. |
|
| John finally had
enough and went back to the kennels to get a retriever. This was the
perfect match. The pointer would point them and the retriever would
flush them before they could run too far.
After a great dinner of New York strip steak, baked potatoes and all the fixings provided by Sue, we continued to hunt the afternoon in the sudex fields and in the timber lines. As you can tell by the pictures it was a great day of hunting. Thanks John and Sue !!! |
